緊急時の電話

We will be talking about emergency calls.

Naoyuki: In Japan we call the emergency number 110 for the police and 119 for an ambulance or a fire engine. How about other countries?

Caroline: Other countries have the opposite...911. This number is both for medical and criminal emergencies.

Naoyuki: Wow, we need to be careful about that when we go abroad. Foreign people in Japan also need to be careful, don't they?

Caroline: Yes, they do. Can you imagine if I had an emergency and kept trying to call 911? That is quite dangerous !

Naoyuki: Oh, I don't want to imagine the situation. I just hope it won't happen to foreign people.

ナオユキ： 日本では緊急時に、警察へは110番、救急車や消防車へは119番に電話をかけるんだ。他の国はどうなの？

カロライン： 他の国は反対ね。。。911番よ。この番号は、医療や犯罪の緊急事態両方の番号よ。

ナオユキ： へー、僕らが海外に行くときは気をつけないといけないなー。日本にいる外国の方も気をつけないといけないね。

カロライン： ええ、そうね。私が緊急の時に、911番をずっとかけようとしているなんて想像できる？本当危険だわー。

ナオユキ： あー、その状況を想像したくないよ。ただただ外国の方にそんなことが起きないことを祈るよ。
