80対20の法則

We will be talking about the 80/20 principle.

Naoyuki: Have you ever heard of the 80/20 principle? It says that 80% of effects come from 20% of causes.

Juliana: Well, I have heard about it but I resent the idea. I think it's created to lie to our heads that the less we have/do, the better we become. This principle may only be applicable in certain sectors, like sales. Do you concur with this principle?

Naoyuki: Well,, that's a good question. I also think that can be applied to certain areas, but that sounds interesting. For example 80% of sales come from 20% of customers.

Juliana: Since you have more experience in the business world, do you think this rule states the truth? I think this principle implies that 80% of the people in the world are useless, since only 20% of them produce 80% of the effects.

Naoyuki: No,no. I don't think it says 80% of the people are useless, since they contribute to other areas. The sales might be less than 20% of their purchase.

ナオユキ： 80対20の法則って今までに聞いたことある？80％の結果は、20％の原因から生み出される。

ジュリアナ： ええ、聞いたことあるけど、その考えって腹が立つわ。私それは私たちの頭を欺くために作られたと思うの。やらなければ、もっと良くなれるって。この法則って営業とかある部門にしか適用できないのかもしれない。あなたはこの法則に同意するの？

ナオユキ： うーん、良い質問だねー。僕もあるエリアには適用が出来ると思うけど、興味深く思えるね。例えば、80％の売上は、20％のお客様から来るとか。

ジュリアナ： ビジネスの世界ではあなたのほうが経験があるからだけど、このルールって真実を述べていると思う？私はこの法則は世界の80％の人は役に立たないって暗に言っていると思うの。だってたった20％の人が80％の結果を生み出すなんて。

ナオユキ： いや、いや。僕はそれが80％の人が役に立たないなんて言っているとは思わないよ。だって彼らは他のエリアで貢献しているんだから。その売上は彼らの購入の20％以下なんじゃないかな。
