日光

We will be talking about Nikko with one of our students, Hiroshi.

Caroline: How was your trip to Nikko?

Hiroshi: It was good. I stayed at a small house on the mountain near Nikko.

Caroline: Was it a hotel or an inn?

Hiroshi: No, my high school teacher lives there. He retired and he now makes ceramic products. He took me to a lot of places in Nikko and foreign tourists stared at him because he looks strange.

Caroline: Haha ! Why were they staring? What is so strange about him?

Hiroshi: I think it is because he has long white hair and a long white moustache which is not common in Japan. Some tourists asked him to take photos with their children.
Caroline: You must have been bored.

Hiroshi: No, I was busy translating their English requests to Japanese for him.

Caroline: That is wonderful, at least you practiced some English.

Hiroshi: Of course I could easily do that because For B English is an excellent school and I have learned a lot here !!

今日は生徒のヒロシさんと共に、日光について話します。

カロライン： 日光旅行はどうだった？

ヒロシ： 良かったよ。日光の近くの山の上の小さな家に泊まったんだ。

カロライン： それはホテルなの？それとも民宿？

ヒロシ： いや、僕の高校の先生がそこに住んでいるんだよ。彼はもう退職して、今は陶器を作っているんだ。彼が僕を日光のいろいろな場所に連れて行ってくれて、そしたら、海外の観光客が彼のことじろじろ見るんだよね。彼って変わって見えるからさ。

カロライン： はっは、 何で彼らはじろじろ見ているの？彼のどこがそんなに変なの？

ヒロシ： 彼は日本では珍しく、長い白髪と長くて白い口ひげをはやしているからだと思うよ。何人かの観光客は自分の子供たちと写真を撮ってくれるよう彼に頼んでいたしね。

カロライン： あなた退屈だったんじゃない？

ヒロシ： いや、僕は彼のために、英語での頼みを日本語に訳すのに忙しかったんだよー。

カロライン： すばらしいじゃないのー、少なくとも英語の練習にはなったわね。

ヒロシ： もちろん僕は簡単にできたよ、だって、英会話フォービーはすばらしい学校で、僕はそこでたくさん学んできたからね！！
