ベーコンチーズバーガー

We will be talking about a bacon cheeseburger.

Caroline: Your English is quite good now, but why are you interested in learning English conversation?

Naoyuki: Well, I had a shocking experience when I first went abroad. It was a trip to Los Angeles. My friends and I went to a fast food chain for lunch and I ordered a bacon cheeseburger.

Caroline: That sounds delicious. Then what happened?

Naoyuki: Yeah, the clerk couldn't understand my "bacon cheeseburger". I repeatedly said "bacon cheeseburger", but he couldn't understand and finally pointed at a menu on the back board since there was no menu on the counter.

Caroline: Oh, you poor thing. Did you get a bacon cheeseburger at last?

Naoyuki: Yes, but I was really embarrassed and couldn't understand why the clerk couldn't understand my English which was just a few words. So after I came back to Japan, I went to a language school and started learning.

Caroline: You don't need to worry about that anymore!

Naoyuki: Well,, actually I haven't ordered a bacon cheeseburger since then...

今日はベーコンチーズバーガーについて話します。


カロライン： あなたの英語、今はかなり良いけど、なんで英会話を学ぶことに興味を持ったの？

ナオユキ： うん、初めて海外に行ったとき、ショックな経験をしたんだよ。それは、ロサンゼルスへの旅行だったんだ。友達と僕は、昼食のためにファーストフード店に行って、僕はベーコンチーズバーガーを注文したんだ。

カロライン： 何かおいしそうね。それから何かあったの？

ナオユキ： うん、店員が、僕の言った「ベーコンチーズバーガー」を理解できなかったんだよ。僕は何回も「ベーコンチーズバーガー」って言ったんだけど、彼は理解できなくて、ついには、後ろのボードにあるメニューを指差してきたんだよ。カウンターの上にはメニューがなかったからね。

カロライン： あぁーかわいそー。ベーコンチーズバーガーは食べれたの？

ナオユキ： うん、でも本当恥ずかしかったし、何で店員がたった2,3語の英語を理解できなかったのか、理解できなかったよ。だから日本に帰ってからすぐ語学学校に行って、勉強を始めたんだ。

カロライン： もうそんな心配する必要ないわね！

ナオユキ： うーん、実際のところ、それ以来、ベーコンチーズバーガーは注文してないんだけどね。。。
