冬季オリンピックのメダル獲得数

We will be talking about total medal count in the Winter Olympics.

Naoyuki: Do you know which country has got the most gold medals in the Winter Olympics?

Caroline: No, I don't but I would guess Canada.

Naoyuki: Wrong! It's Norway which has got 98 gold medals. For your information, Japan has got 9 gold medals in the past.

Caroline: Really? I wouldn't have guessed. I thought it is Canada because they get a lot of snow and so they get to practice all the winter sports thoroughly. I also thought Japan has won more than 9 !

Naoyuki: Yeah, Japan has got only 9 medals so far. On the other hand Canada has got 38 gold medals. I think Canada will get a lot of medals in Vancouver.

カロライン： 本当？分からなかったわ。カナダはたくさん雪があるから、すべての冬のスポーツを徹底的に練習できると思ったのよねー。日本も9個以上取っていたと思ったわ。

ナオユキ： うーん、日本はこれまでに9個しか取っていないんだ。一方、カナダは38個の金メダルを取っている。カナダはバンクーバーでたくさんメダルを取ると思うよ。
