紅葉

Today we'll talk about autumn leaves.

Yoshiko: It might be a little early, but it'll be the season for autumn leaves soon, won't it? Have you been to see the autumn leaves in Japan?

David: Yes, I went to Hakone during autumn a few years ago, and Oku-tama. It was very nice, but crowded. Where do you think is best?

Yoshiko: I don't actually know so well! Hakone's good, right? But when I go it's usually too early and I can't see the leaves in full colour. Do the leaves turn red in Britain in autumn?

David: Yes, but they also go yellow, so you get a mixture of tones. It's very beautiful in Scotland. But I think there are more forests in Japan than in Britain, so it's easier to see here. Speaking of autumn, there are lots of special Japanese foods that come into season during that time, aren't there?

Yoshiko: Yes, it is. What kind of autumn food is there in Britain? In Japan, autumn is first and foremost samma season. I love it!

David: There are lots of mushrooms that come into season in autumn. We eat lots of chestnuts too, like in Japan.

今日は紅葉について話します。

ヨシコ：まだ少し早いけど紅葉のシーズンが近いわね～。日本では紅葉を見に行ったことある？

デーヴィッド: うん、何年か前箱根へ見に行ったし、奥多摩にも行ったよ。すごく良かったけど、混んでたんだ。どこが一番いいと思う？

ヨシコ：どこと言われると・・・私もそんなに知らないけど。箱根はいいんじゃない？だけど、たいてい私が行くときは早すぎて紅葉前だったりするの。イギリスでも紅葉はするでしょう？

デーヴィッド: うん、でも黄色くなったりもするから、色の混合だね。スコットランドのはきれいだと思うよ。でも、イギリスより日本のほうが森が多いから、ここのほうが紅葉が見やすいね。秋と言えば、日本では特別なものが食べられる時なんだよね。

ヨシコ：そうなの～。では、イギリスの秋の食べものって？日本は秋といえば、まず秋刀魚じゃない？本当に大好き♪
