月面着陸40周年

We will be talking about 40th Anniversary of the Moon Landings.


David: This week was the anniversary of the first moon landings. It's an interesting coincidence that it was also the week a solar eclipse happened, don't you think?

Naoyuki: Yes it is. It's great to think that men landed on the moon before either of us were born.

David: I think it's sad that we no longer undertake missions like that. I think the moon landings gave human beings something to aspire to.

Naoyuki: Yes, I think that because scientists had that goal, science progressed very quickly during that time. I wonder if science today could have a similar goal, and if so what it would be.

David: Maybe something to do with global warming, but landing a man on the moon seems much more inspiring I think. It doesn't have to be landing a man on the moon, but there needs to be some sort of grand aim.

Naoyuki: Maybe living on the moon?

David: Or going to Mars!

今日は月面着陸40周年について話します。

デーヴィッド： 今週は初めて月面着陸した記念日だね。今週は日食もあったし、面白い偶然だよね。そう思わない？

ナオユキ： うん、そう思う。僕らが生まれる前に、人間が月に着陸してるなんてすごいことだよ。

デーヴィッド： 僕はそんな任務をもう引き受けられなくて悲しいよ。月面着陸は、人類に何か熱望するものを与えたと思うな。

ナオユキ： うん、僕はこの時期、科学者達があんな目標を持っていたから、科学がとても早く進歩したと思うね。今科学が同じような目標を持つとしたら、どんなものになるんだろー。

デーヴィッド： 多分、地球温暖化についてかな。でも、人を月面に着陸させるほうが、もっと人を奮い立たせると思うな。

ナオユキ： じゃー月面移住は？

デーヴィッド： 火星に行こう！
