バンクーバー

We will be talking about Vancouver.

David: One of our students just went to Vancouver to study English. You did that too, didn't you?

Naoyuki: Yes. I went for a three week home stay, but it was a great experience. I had a little culture shock though. I went to an ordinary household, but I was amazed at the size of the property and the garden.

David: Canada has a lot more space than Japan and a lot fewer people, so I think even people without a lot of money can have big houses and gardens.

Naoyuki: Another thing that surprised me was the number of Asian people living there. You can go to any restaurant in the city and there will be Asian people there.

David: How was the food?

Naoyuki: One time I went to the parents of my host family's house and had a huge steak. It was delicious. They also grew tomatoes in the garden. They were really sweet. The grandmother was constantly talking, but she also kept saying to me, "Say something, say something!"I realised that women talk a lot whichever country you go to.

今日はバンクーバーについて話します。

デーヴィッド： 僕たちの生徒の1人が英語を勉強するためにバンクーバーに発ったね。君も同じだったよね？

ナオユキ： うん、僕は3週間のホームステイだったけど、とても良い経験だった。少しカルチャーショックを受けたけどね。僕は普通の家庭に行ったんだけど、建物と庭の大きさに驚いたよ。

デーヴィッド： カナダは日本よりより多くの土地があって、人がすごく少ないからね。だから、たくさんお金を持っていなくても、大きな家や庭を持つことができるんだね。

ナオユキ： もう1つ驚いたのは、住んでいるアジア人の数だね。町のどのレストランに行っても、アジア人がいるからね。

デーヴィッド： 食べ物はどうだった？

ナオユキ： 一度ホストファミリーの両親の家に行った時、とても大きなステーキを食べたんだ。とてもおいしかったよ。庭でトマトも育てていて、すごく甘かった。お婆さんがずっとしゃべっていて、僕に何度もこう言ってたよ。「何かしゃべりなさいよ、何かしゃべりなさいよ！」　どこの国に行っても女性はたくさん話すんだなーって思いました。
