We will be talking about Futsal.

Naoyuki: Have you ever heard of futsal?

Caroline: No, I haven't. Is that an English word?

Naoyuki: Yes, it is. However I heard futsal is derived from two Spanish words, futbol, meaning football, and sala, meaning the inside of a room. Futsal, five-a-side football, is becoming popular among not only men but young women recently.
Caroline: Oh, nice ! I would want to try. Are there many futsals in Japan? Where are they? Are they on top of buildings as I can see on the photo above?

Naoyuki: There are a lot of futsal courts around here and some of them are on top of buildings like the picture above which is in Shibuya. Some of our students play futsal, so maybe we can play with them in the near future!

今日はフットサルについて話します。

ナオユキ： フットサルって聞いたことある？

カロライン： いいえ、ないわ。英語の言葉？

ナオユキ： うん、そうだよ。でも、スペイン語の二つの単語、サッカーを意味する futbol と、室内を意味する sala が語源だって聞いたよ。フットサルは、５人制のサッカーだけど、男性に限らず、若い女性の間でも最近人気が出てきているんだ。

カロライン： へー、いいわね！私やってみたいわ。フットサルって日本にたくさんあるの？どこにあるの？上の写真みたいにビルの屋上にあるの？

ナオユキ： ここらへんでもフットサル場はたくさんあるよ。いくつかは上の写真みたいにビルの屋上にあるね。渋谷の写真だけど。うちの生徒の方の何名かはフットサルをやっているから、多分近いうちに彼らと一緒にプレーできるんじゃないかな！
