Naoyuki: So, Frankie, you're from Pittsburgh, aren't you? What’s Pittsburgh like?

Frankie: It’s a pretty nice place. Not too big, not too small. Two large rivers merge downtown to form the Ohio River.

Naoyuki: It’s famous for steel production, isn’t it?

Frankie: Well, it was for most of the 20th century, but a lot of the factories closed down in the 80’s due to overseas competition.

Naoyuki: Oh, I see. That must have been bad for the economy.

Frankie: It was, but the industry adapted, and companies started producing more specialty steel products. Nowadays Pittsburgh is famous for medical research, technology, and robotics.

Naoyuki: Are there any culinary specialties?

Frankie: Well… I guess the most famous dish is a Primanti Brothers sandwich, which has French Fries in it!

Naoyuki: French fries in the sandwich? Is that any good?

Frankie: Honestly, I don’t recommend it...

ナオユキ： それで、フランキー、君ってピッツバーグ出身だよね？ピッツバーグってどんな感じ？



フランキー： かなり良いところだよ。大きくもなく、小さくもなく。２つの大きな川が都市部でくっついてオハイオ川になっているんだよ。

ナオユキ： 鉄鋼製品で有名なんじゃない？

フランキー： うーん、それはほぼ20世紀のことだね、たくさんの工場が海外との競争のせいで80年代に閉鎖になったんだよ。



ナオユキ： おー、なるほど。経済には悪かったんだろうね。

フランキー： だね、でも産業は順応して、企業はより専門的な鉄鋼製品を作るようになったんだ。最近では、ピッツバーグは医学研究、技術、ロボット工学で有名だよ。

ナオユキ： 料理で名物はないの？

フランキー： うーん、、、一番有名なのは、プリマンティブラザーサンドウィッチじゃないかな、ポテトが中に入っている！

ナオユキ： ポテトがサンドウィッチの中に入っているの？それって良いの？

フランキー： 正直お薦めしません。。。
