迷って4時間ドライブ

We will be talking about a four hour drive on a wrong road.

Naoyuki: The traffic was heavy today. It took me over an hour and half to get to work.

I don't like driving for such a long time. It's very tiring.

Nat: An hour and half is not that long. I remember when I was in Beppu. My friend and I went for a ride on the mountains. We had so much fun driving on the curved roads that we forgot our way back.

Naoyuki: Oh! So how did you find your way home?

Nat: We tried to use big sign boards on the road which were written in kanji and we made a mistake by taking the route to Ozai instead of Oita [since they all begin with the kanji "O"].

Naoyuki: Hahaha! So what happened?

Nat: Well, after we drove for 4 hours, we realized we were lost. So we stopped by a gas station and asked for direction. Fortunately, a bus going to Beppu passed by and the men asked us to follow it. That's how we got home.

今日は迷って4時間ドライブしたことについて話します。

ナオユキ： 今日は渋滞してたなー。仕事に来るまでに1時間半以上もかかっちゃったよ。あんな長い間運転するのは好きじゃないんだよね。疲れるよ。

ナッツ： 1時間半はそんなに長くないよ。僕が別府にいたころを思い出すなー。友達と僕は山にドライブに行ったんだ。曲がりくねった道を運転するのがとても楽しくて、帰り道が分からなくなっちゃったんだよ。

ナオユキ： おー！じゃーどうやって家に帰ったの？

ナッツ： 漢字で書かれた大きな道路標識を使おうとしたんだ。そして、大分の代わりに大在に行ってしまったんだ（両方とも「大」という漢字で始まっていたからね）。

ナオユキ： はっはっは！それでどうなったの？

ナッツ： うん、４時間運転して、僕ら迷ったって気づいたんだよ。だから、ガソリンスタンドに寄って、道を聞いたんだ。運良く、別府行きのバスが通り過ぎて、それに着いて行けばって言われたんだ。それで家に帰れたんだ。
