忘年会の悲劇

We will be talking about a tragic experience at an end of year party.

Naoyuki: Nat, I hope you have not forgotten about our end of year party this year.

Nat: Yes, it's next Saturday December 18 at  7:00 pm, right?

Naoyuki: Yes, it is. We are looking forward to having a wonderful time with the students and the teachers.

Nat: I hope it is not a sushi party, because I don't want my tragic experience two years ago to be repeated.

Naoyuki: What happened two years ago?

Nat: Well, my former boss arranged for us to have our end of year party at a restaurant which he described as the best in Oita city. In fact he talked about how we were going to have a wonderful time and I was really looking forward to having a good time.

Naoyuki: And how did it go?

Nat: It was a sushi restaurant, but the problem was I don't eat sushi. I tried some though, since I didn't want to make my boss feel bad, and I was really hungry too. I enjoyed the time, but I ended up having a stomachace. In fact it was a disaster because I couldn't even go out the next day.

Naoyuki: Haha! Don't worry, Nat. We won't go to a sushi restaurant this time.

今日は忘年会の悲劇について話します。

ナオユキ： ナッツ、今年の忘年会のこと忘れてないよね。

ナッツ： うん、１２月１８日、来週の土曜日の午後７時だよね？

ナオユキ： うん、そうだよ。生徒の皆様や先生達とすばらしい一時を過ごすことを楽しみにしているよ。

ナッツ： それって寿司パーティじゃないよね、だって、２年前の悲劇を繰り返したくないからね。

ナオユキ： ２年前に何があったの？

ナッツ： うん、前の上司が、僕たちのために忘年会を開いてくれたんだけど、彼曰く大分市で一番のレストランだったんだよ。実際、彼はどれだけ僕らがすばらしい時を過ごせるか話したんだ。僕は本当楽しみにしていたんだよ。

ナオユキ： それで、どうだった？

ナッツ： それはお寿司屋さんだったんだけど、問題は僕がお寿司を食べないということなんだよ。でも、いくつかは試してみたんだ。だって、上司を悪い気分にさせたくなかったし、とてもお腹がすいていたしね。僕はその場は楽しんだけど、最後には腹痛になっちゃったんだ。実際、最悪だったんだよ、次の日も外に出ることさえできなかったからね。

ナオユキ： はっはっは。心配しなくて良いよ、ナッツ。今回はお寿司屋さんには行かないから。
