外国人じろじろ見られる？

We will be talking about being stared.

Frankie: A funny thing happened to me at the gym this morning.

Naoyuki: Oh yeah? What's that?

Frankie: I've been training hard for my triathlon, so after my workout I was exhausted. I went to the hot tub on the roof, so that I could relax.

Naoyuki: Your gym has a rooftop hot tub?! Wow!!

Frankie: Yeah, it is pretty nice. Anyways, I was totally exhausted, and the hot tub was full of older women who were really talkative. They always want to talk to me because there aren't many foreign people at my gym.


Naoyuki: I see, that's nice.

Frankie: Yes, sometimes I like talking to them, but today I was really tired, so I didn't want to talk to anyone! There were several older women looking over at me saying "Sugoi desu ne!!" and stuff like that. Everyone was really excited, but I was confused -- Am I really so "Sugoi"?! They kept saying it over and over again. "Sugoi!!"

Naoyuki: Haha, maybe they were just excited to be in a hot tub with a foreigner.

Frankie: That's what I thought, but then one of them told me to turn around, because you could see Mt. Fuji!

今日はじろじろ見られることについて話します。

フランキー： 今朝、スポーツクラブで面白いことがあったんだけど。

ナオユキ： へー、本当。何？

フランキー： 僕、トライアスロンのために一生懸命トレーニングしているから、トレーニング後へとへとになったんだ。くつろぐために、屋上のお風呂に行ったんだよ。

ナオユキ： 君のジム、屋上にお風呂があるんだ?! ひゃー!!

フランキー： うん、かなり良いよ。とにかく、僕完全に疲れきっていたんだ。お風呂には本当おしゃべりなおばあさん達がいっぱいたんだけど、いつも僕と話したがるんだよね。ジムには外国人あまりいないからね。

ナオユキ： なるほど、それは良い。


フランキー： うん、たまに話すのは好きなんだけど、今日は本当疲れてたから、誰とも話したくなかったんだよ！何人かのおばあさんが、僕のほうを見て「すごいですね!!」みたいなことを言ったんだよ。みんなすごく興奮していたんだけど、僕は戸惑って。僕って本当にそんなに「すごい」?! 彼女達は何度も何度も言い続けてたんだよ。「すごい!!」って。

ナオユキ： はっはっは。多分、外国人と一緒にお風呂に入って、ただ興奮していたんじゃないの。

フランキー： それは僕が思ったことなんだけど、その後、その中の１人が、僕に向きを変えるように言ったんだ。富士山が見えるからって！
