口蹄疫

We will be talking about foot-and-mouth disease.

Naoyuki: Unfortunately foot-and-mouth disease has been spreading quickly in Miyazaki Prefecture since it was detected in April.

Caroline: Oh, no !! Do you think it will spread widely? Should we stop eating meat?

Naoyuki: You don't need to worry about that. I heard eating the meat does not harm humans. However we can be the carriers of the virus, so people in Miyazaki might not be allowed to go outside freely.

Caroline: Oh, that is a consolation. Is it airborne?

Naoyuki: I'm not sure, but I heard we carry the virus on our cloths, shoes or body. So if people with the virus go somewhere, there is a chance to spread the virus without noticing.
Caroline: So in that case, it means it's not only humans who can spread it. Items/goods that have been sent from Miyazaki could be carrying the virus too. Let's just hope the virus doesn't spread a lot in Japan.

今日は口蹄疫について話します。

ナオユキ： 残念なことに、口蹄疫が4月に発見されて以来、宮崎県で急速に広まっているんだ。

カロライン： わー大変！！あなたは広範囲に広がると思う？肉を食べるのをやめるべきなの？

ナオユキ： それについては、心配いらない。肉を食べても人間には影響ないって聞いたよ。でも、僕たちがウィルスを運ぶ可能性はあるから、宮崎の人は、自由に外に行くことを許されないんじゃないかなー。

カロライン： ふー、少しほっとした。それは空中を浮遊するの？

ナオユキ： よく分からないけど、ウィルスは僕らの服や靴、体に付いて、運ばれるみたいだよ。だかた、ウィルスの付いた人がどこかに行けば、知らずにウィルスを広げる可能性はあるね。
カロライン： じゃーその場合、ウィルスを広げるのは人間だけじゃないのね。宮崎から送られてきた品物/商品も、ウィルスを運んでいる可能性はあるのね。ただただ、日本にウィルスが広範囲に広がらないように祈りましょう。
