We will be talking about "The world is flat".

Caroline: Have you read "The world is flat" by Thomas L. Friedman?

Naoyuki: No, I haven't. Could you give an outline of the book?

Caroline: It is about globalization and Friedman claims that there is fair competition among all countries and that there are no external influences that affect the competition of any part of the world. Do you agree with this concept?

Naoyuki: Well,,, globalization of the world economy is spreading rapidly today. So companies or consumers use better resources like people, services, or products from around the world. In short if things are competitive, they will be used in the world.

Caroline: I agree with that. One more question; do you think that globalization offers the same opportunities to all countries?

Naoyuki: Uh,,that's a difficult question. I think 50 years ago we did not have the same opportunities, but recently they are more or less similar.
