グーグルワック

We will be talking about Googlewhack.

David: Have you heard of Googlewhack?

Naoyuki: No, I haven't.

David: It's a game you can play with google, or another search engine. Basically, you put two words in the search box and press'return'. Usually thousands, or millions, of pages will come up. But if you get only one page, it's a 'googlewhack'.

Naoyuki: Sounds fun. Do you know any googlewhacks?

David: There's a list at googlewhack.com. Anybody can take part. If you find a googlewhack, you can put it on the list. Usually they sound pretty crazy. Like 'unluckiest moonchilds' or 'counterrevolutionary brainworms'.

Naoyuki: They're nonsense words, aren't they?

David: Yeah, but I think English speakers love nonsense words. How about in Japanese?

Naoyuki: How about 'touritsu teranosaurus'?

David: Close. Just 3 hits. But you need 1 hit only for it to be a true googlewhack.

今日はグーグルワックについて話します。

デーヴィッド： グーグルワックって聞いたことある？

ナオユキ： いや、ないよ。

デーヴィッド： それは、グーグルとか、その他の検索エンジンで遊べるゲームなんだ。基本的に、２つの単語を検索ボックスに入れて、リターンを押します。大抵、数千、数百万のページが出てくるよね。でももしたった１つのページだけが出てきたら、それが、「グーグルワック」ってことになるんだ。

ナオユキ： 面白そうだね。何かグーグルワック知ってる？

デーヴィッド： 一覧が、グーグルワック．コムにあるよ。誰でも参加できる。もしグーグルワックを見つけたら、一覧に追加できるんだ。だいたいは、変なものだけどね。「もっともついていない　ムーンチャイルド」とか、「反革命的な　脳の寄生虫」とかね。

ナオユキ： 意味なくない？

デーヴィッド： うん、でも英語を話す人は、意味がない言葉が好きだと思うよ。日本語はどう？

ナオユキ： 「倒立　テラノサウルス」では？

デーヴィッド： おしい。３件だけ。でも本当のグーグルワックになるには、１件だけが必要なんだ。
