国勢調査

We will be talking about the census with one of our students, Osamu.


Census taker visits a family living in a caravan, Netherlands 1925.

Warren:  So, have you filled out your population census form yet?

Osamu:  Not yet, I'll fill it out on the first of October. It's very important, everybody has to fill one out. You too, Warren.

Warren: Oh, really? What will happen if I don't

Osamu: Well , if you don't fill out the forms then the government won't have accurate data about Japan, so you have to do it!

 Warren: Will I be punished if I don't?

Osamu: I'm not sure but probably not.



Warren: OK, then I probably won't bother. Haha, just kidding.

ウォーレン： そう言えば、もう国勢調査の用紙に記入した？

オサム： まだ、やってない。10月1日に記入するつもり。とても重要だから、みんな記入しないといけないんだよ。君もだよウォーレン。

ウォーレン： へー、本当？もししなかったらどうなるの？

オサム： うーん。もし君が用紙に記入しなかったら、政府が日本の正確なデータを得られなくなるんだよ。だから、君はやらないといけないの！

ウォーレン： やらなかったら罰せられる？

オサム： よくわからないけど、多分罰せられないんじゃないの。

ウォーレン： 分かった、じゃあ多分やらないよ。はっはっ、冗談。
